Naika Foroutan is a professor of integration research and social policy at Humboldt University in Berlin, founding chair of the German Centre for Integration and Migration Research (DeZIM) and director of the Berlin Institute of Empirical Integration and Migration Research (BIM) at Humboldt University in Berlin. The article “Home is Not Always the Answer” (original German: “Heimat ist nicht immer die Antwort”) is based on a conversation with the president of the Federal Agency for Civic Education/bpb Thomas Krüger and Thomas Oberender that took place on 9 March 2019 as part of “Palast der Republik” at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele. An unabridged version of this conversation was published in December 2019 as the Berliner Festspiele’s Edition 28.
